Meet the 15th century mercenaries and nobility, the Marquis of Montrose and his men, the participants in the Jacobite rebellions, the Napoleonic soldiers back from the wars, the Scots who fought in the American Civil War, and the soldiers of the Great War and World War 2. - Amazing Archery - No holds barred Battles - Cannons & Siege engine - Weapons Displays - Fantastic Falconry - Historic Market - Children`s Activities - Specialist Food & craft stalls - Circus skills workshops for kids - Medieval musicians - Jolly Jugglers - Craft demonstrations - Explore living history camps - Real Ale Tent Regretably the loss of a small but vital piece of grant funding has meant the cancellation of the 2012 Scotland´s Festival of History at Lanark. This is not something we have done lightly, but without commercial sponsorship the festival relies on grant funding to continue. We do, however, plan to return in 2013 with an event which will be bigger and better than before. But for 2013 the festival will move to a new home - the Grand Avenue of Chatelherault, the magnificent 18th century hunting lodge of the Duke of Hamilton, who is also Duc de Chatelherault in France. This means a historic and very scenic home with visitors also having all the facilities that this 5* VisitScotland attraction offers - from the house and its various facilities to the magnificent park. There is a railway station, and bus stop, right at the park entry. Chatelherault is just two miles off the M74 at Hamilton in South Lanarkshire. | |||||||||
